Exchange 2016 Uninstall Fails on Mailbox Server Role: Client Access Service
Recently I battled with this headache of an Uninstall of an Exchange 2016 server. In the Exchange Install Logs this is the error that you are seeing.
ERROR ( message:Cannot find GLOBAL MODULE object with identifier “exppw:)
To resolve this error, you can follow the below steps.
- Copy the following file from a working Exchange Server: “C:\windows\Systems32\Inetsrv\config\applicationhost.config”
- Replace the applicationhost.config file on the Exchange server that does not want to uninstall.
- Restart the uninstall process again.
Whats the process of uninstalling exchange?
@Ihsan, to uninstall Exchange you can follow the following guide. http://www.thatlazyadmin.com/removing-exchange-2013-mailbox-server-exchange-organization/
Here is also a detailed guide of what you should do before you can uninstall Exchange. :https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/mspfe/2015/08/26/decommissioning-legacy-exchange-servers/
Was able to copy the 2019 applicationhost.config and levy that to decommission our 2016 servers!
Thank you!
